Speaker: Dr. Radek Kundt

The lecture examines the relationship between participation in collective religious rituals and the perception of moral norms as objective.

Note: The event will be held in English!

In his lecture, Dr. Radek Kundt (Brno) draws on anthropological theories which state that rituals charge moral norms with objectivity, so that they are perceived as absolute and independent of time and space. This higher perceived norm objectivity strengthens the internal motivation to comply with norms and thus stabilizes the risky cooperation within the group.

To investigate the relationship between participation in collective religious rituals and the perception of moral norms as objective, two cross-sectional datasets and five correlational studies with three culturally different populations will be used. The results of these studies will be presented in the lecture.
