The General Staff Council (GPR) is a special interest group within Leipzig University, which is responsible for all matters concerning employees in the university sector as well as in the Faculty of Medicine. It is elected alongside the two local staff councils at Leipzig University, which are spatially or organisationally separate from each other. The GPR is politically neutral.

The General Staff Council (GPR) is responsible for areas that affect both the university sector and the Faculty of Medicine at Leipzig University. For example, the GPR is responsible for:

  • the appreciation in the public service of the Free State of Saxony,
  • the operational health management,
  • the service agreement on further training,
  • the service agreement on telecommunications (protection of employees),
  • the university development plan,
  • the personnel development concept,
  • the house rules,
  • the hygiene protection concepts
  • as well as other topics.

Like the other staff councils, the General Staff Council is obliged to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law and collective agreements as well as the service agreements. As a rule, the GPR is not responsible for individual personnel matters.
