For more than 20 years we have been recording the research activities of the academics working at our university in research databases. leuris is the name given to our research information system, pools this research information and enables structured processing – for example for our website, the annual research report and the University’s research portal. We offer members of Leipzig University training and support in the use of leuris.

Pooling and Processing Research Information

Research information is so-called metadata, which describes in a structured way which research activities take place at the University. This may include information on ongoing and completed research projects, publications or other research activities.

Currently, our university collects information about research projects, publications, prizes and awards, international cooperation and scientific events that have taken place within Leipzig University.

research information system (RIS) makes it possible to record and link, maintain and evaluate research information. In this way, this data can be made available in a structured and quality-assured manner for various internal and external use cases, such as for reporting or for presentation on the University website.

leuris: Leipzig University Research Information System

Since 2016, our university has been developing its own research information system, Leipzig University Research Information System (leuris), which takes into account the requirements of the University and its researchers.

To this end, leuris integrates the University’s existing subject-specific systems and their research information. To implement this in the best possible way, leuris follows a modular approach. Each module fulfils a clear, narrowly defined purpose and is implemented as an independent component. The modules are supervised by one or more University departments.

leuris Modules

Our university’s research information system is currently in the development phase, but leuris is already a core tool used by the University for public and internal research reporting. The following leuris modules are already available:

leuris:Profilseite (“leuris profile page”) lets you present your activities in research and teaching and keep your curriculum vitae up to date. The contents are then published in your personal profile on the Leipzig University website.

Detailed and up-to-date information on the presentation of personal profiles can be found in our wiki:

leuris wiki

The research portal provides up-to-date information on the research activities of our scholars. The information presented here is based on the activities reported by the researchers themselves. They reflect research projects, publications, prizes, awards and honours as well as international cooperation and scientific events.

leuris:Portal

leuris:Forschungsbericht (“leuris research report”) is the central tool for research reporting at our university. Staff can enter and manage their research activities here. Data already entered is still available and can be updated at any time.

Our wiki provides detailed information on using leuris:Research Report:

Our university’s experts' network facilitates connections between journalists, who are seeking scientific assessments, statements, or interviews for their research, and our university scientists. By being part of this network with your expertise as a contact person for media inquiries, you increase your own visibility and reputation.
