Our university’s Mineralogical and Petrographic Collection was founded in 1809. It is one of the oldest mineral collections of any university in Germany.

Used for teaching and research, the collection presents historical scientific instruments, crystal models, minerals and technical products from all over the world. The collection comprises over 12,000 mineral specimens, 3500 rock pieces, 1000 deposit records and more than 200 technical pieces.

Guided tours of the collection premises are possible by appointment only.
