Celebrating our anniversary

This year, we celebrate our university’s 613th anniversary on Friday, 2 December 2022. The faculties and institutions have prepared an exciting variety of programmes. The day will be rounded off with an awards ceremony and festive carol-singing in the Paulinum.

Bell tolls for the Dies academicus

Since 2013, the 350-year-old restored University bell has been sounding in the Paulinum – Assembly Hall and University Church of St. Paul to mark festive events of university life.

Awards ceremony

The awards ceremony will take place on 2 December 2022 between 11am and 1pm in the Audimax inside the Neues Augusteum.

Awards ceremony

As part of the Dies academicus, the University Society will present awards for special commitment. The awards ceremony will be accompanied by atmospheric performances by Leipzig University’s musicians.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 2 December 2022 between 11am and 1pm in the Audimax inside the Neues Augusteum.

Please note that seats are limited. The University Society kindly asks that you register in advance.

Carol-singing

It’s time to get cosy in the Paulinum as we celebrate the University’s anniversary. Students, staff, and members of the public are all invited to join University Music Director David Timm in singing some festive favourites!

Carol-singing in the Paulinum

From 4.30pm, enjoy a hot drink and get into the festive swing. You may be surprised to hear which pieces will be played and who knows, perhaps someone will stop by with a bag of goodies at the end.
