Awareness Day
International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On 11 February 2025, the Office for Equality, Diversity and Family Affairs, together with the academic staff development in cooperation with the Leipzig Science Network, will offer a diverse programme for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, established by the United Nations, highlights the importance of women in science every year on 11 February. It encourages girls and women around the world to pursue careers in science and celebrates their achievements. At the same time, the day aims to raise awareness of the barriers women and girls often face on their paths into academia.
At Leipzig University, the Office for Equality, Diversity and Family Affairs (SCDF) and the academic staff development in cooperation with the Leipzig Science Network are organising a diverse programme featuring various formats that provide space for discourse, inspiration, and networking. These events are aimed at women interested in science and anyone committed to promoting equity in the academic system.
