The Khyentse Center for Contemplative Traditions will have its official opening on November 3, 2023, with a conference focused on "Buddhism in Theory and Practice."

We cordially invite scholars, researchers, practitioners, and all those interested in contemplative traditions to the Buddhism in Theory and Practice conference, marking the official inauguration of the Khyentse Center for Contemplative Traditions.

The Khyentse Center for Contemplative Traditions aims to bridge the gap between Western academia and the rich contemplative traditions of India, Tibet, Japan, China, and more. While philology and books play a crucial role in Indology and Tibetology, they only represent a part of the whole story. We strive to explore and understand the practical traditions associated with these cultures that often go unnoticed in academic studies.

In this workshop, we will go beyond the confines of philology and delve into the practical traditions of India, Tibet, Japan, China, and more. While books play a vital role, they only represent a part of the whole story.

Building Bridges: We aim to establish connections between Western academia and Eastern traditions, as well as their Western derivatives, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

Platform for Exploration: Our workshop provides a unique platform for researchers to witness how living traditions rely upon both ancient and contemporary textual transmissions.

Unveiling the Meaning: We will explore the profound meaning and significance of these practices in the context of academic study and personal transformation.

Join us as we bridge the gap between theory and experience, expanding our understanding of these rich and diverse contemplative traditions.
