Research data services A-Z
Personal storage space (home drive for employees)
The personal storage space (home drive) service offers you personal online storage at Leipzig University for storing files of all kinds. Access is only possible personally and not for third parties. By storing your files on Leipzig University’s home drive, they are always available online on connected end devices.
Procurement support for hardware
The URZ helps you to procure different hardware. We advise you on the various options available to you. Often there are framework agreements that facilitate the acquisition of hardware.
Research data archiving
As part of good scientific practice at the University of Leipzig, it is essential for research projects to ensure secure and sustainable archiving of the research data produced. The Research Data Archiving service at the URZ directly supports research projects in their efforts to conduct good research by providing the option of permanently archiving research data in the connected long-term repository OpARA. Here, research data can be published, archived and re-used.
Data Science with RStudio
RStudio offers a comprehensive integrated development environment for the programming language R for statistical calculations. The service allows access to our hardware resources and use of the extensive library of software.
High Performance Computing (HPC)
The “High Performance Computing” service offers researchers at Leipzig University and their cooperation partners competent and problem-related advice for the implementation of complex scientific calculations that exceed local computing capacities. As part of the service, users are supported in carrying out complex scientific calculations (e.g. scientific simulations on protein folding, machine learning methods).
MRI image management (XNAT)
XNAT is an open source platform for the management and quality assurance of image data, in particular MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) images. Thanks to its extensibility, XNAT can be used to support a wide range of imaging-based projects.
OMERO
OMERO stands for Open Microscopy Environment. It is an application that works both as a desktop and web version. It allows you to securely create a microscopy image database for your research area and manage it from anywhere you have internet access. You can view, sort, analyse and share your images. The most common microscopy image formats are supported.
Online evaluation and surveys with LimeSurvey
The browser-based tool enables individual online surveys for e.g. evaluation, opinion research, target group analyses and much more. Users can create and evaluate questionnaires on their own. The survey results can be analysed using SPSS or Excel, among other tools.
Own cloud storage (Speicherwolke)
With the “Own cloud storage (Speicherwolke)” service, you have the option of storing files and documents centrally and synchronising them with different end devices. The files stored in the cloud storage can be shared with other people in a secure way and partly edited together. We currently use the cloud storage application “Speicherwolke” for this purpose.
